Convert JPG to AVIF
AVIF is often smaller than both JPEG and WebP. If this browser can write AVIF it does the work locally. If it cannot, the server converts the file and the row tells you that.

Questions about this conversion
Why would AVIF use the server?
Not every browser can encode AVIF yet. The page checks first. When encoding is missing, it uploads the image, converts it, and shows “Converted on the server”.
Is AVIF a good choice for photos?
Yes for the web. Some older desktop apps still cannot open it. Keep a JPG if you need maximum compatibility.
Does the quality slider apply?
Yes. It is passed to the browser encoder or to the server AVIF encoder.
